Tasting notes from the producer

In Scottish terminology, 'The Laird' denotes the Lord of the Manor. This Shiraz, sourced from a vineyard in Marananga planted in 1958, is a product of a single vineyard. The five-acre vineyard adheres to traditional dry farming methods and originates from an original Barossa clonal source.

Situated on the south-facing, eastern side of a ridge that separates the Seppeltsfield and Marananga appellations, these mature vines have undergone meticulous hand-tending. They are traditionally farmed and pruned by a grower with a lifetime's experience in the Western Barossa, where the soils consist of very dark, heavy clay loam over red friable clay. The resulting low yields of small, concentrated Shiraz berries have established this vineyard as the object of desire for winemakers throughout the Barossa region.
