Notes from the producer
Piper-Heidsieck Rare Millesime Champagne 2013 is a sophisticated blend of 17 crus, aged for over seven years in the House’s cellars. This exquisite champagne is composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims. It boasts a dazzling, crystal-clear, citrine yellow gold appearance, enlivened by a delicate, shimmering effervescence. The aroma reveals delicate and golden fruit notes, with hints of exotic fruits like mango and kiwi, complemented by hazelnut, almond, and fig. Mild spices such as white pepper, smoked tea, and cocoa add depth and harmony.
The palate of Rare Millésime 2013 is voluptuous and meringue-like in delicacy, with nuances of mint tea, lime, kumquat, pineapple, and candied ginger evoking distant lands. Its effervescence is tinged with an intensely bright, light golden hue. The nose, initially subtle and clean, develops in stages, combining tonicity and elegance. It opens with delicate white flowers, a hint of black tea, and touches of citrus, kiwi, and kumquat, followed by lime blossom, green tea, and fern. Aromas of white fruits like greengage plums, chestnut honey, sweet spices, vanilla, and marzipan complete the rich bouquet.
On the palate, Rare Millésime 2013 is smooth and vibrant, indulgent and dynamic. After hints of meringue, whipped cream, and marzipan, refreshing notes of kumquat, blood orange, and kiwi emerge. The finish reveals the comforting texture of Rare Millésime 2013, with an aromatic and smoky indulgence punctuated by freshness and a subtle bitterness. Rare Champagne's iconic signature of tropical minerality is expressed uniquely in Rare Millésime 2013, culminating in a plump and prolonged aftertaste.
