The generosity of the Barossa in a single sniff, the jolly rotundity of the Tanunda oompah band in a glass. This wine represents our pride in the classic Barossa style, it is indeed a homage to the training I received under Peter Lehmann through the 70s and 80s. Tasting the classic old Saltrams of the 50s and 60s many of which remain simply delicious drinks to this day, gives you a real insight into the longevity of the classic Barossa style. (A ’57 Saltram Cabernet tasted in 2018 remains pleasantly seared in my memory.) Rich, full-bodied and generous without being overbearing. Opulent yet refined. If you were to take a vinous ambassador with you overseas when we finally can, please take this wine.
