Brora 1978 200th Anniversary 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Brora 1978 200th Anniversary 40 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distilled in 1978 at Brora on the Sutherland coast, this limited edition release has been bottled one year prior to the reopening of the nearly lost distillery. Commemorating the distillery's 200th anniversary, this single malt was crafted during a period when Brora produced a peated malt using heavily peated northern Highland barley. Aged for four decades and restricted to only 1,819 bottles (in honor of the anniversary year), this expression is presented at a robust 49.2% abv.
The nose exudes richness and sweetness, featuring fruity notes, ripe figs, and a fiery, smoky undertone. The palate is smooth, lightly waxy, and unfolds with a potent, darkly sweet flavor that transitions into a more savory profile before the emergence of lingering smoke in the finish.
