Tasting notes from the producer

Coriole has firmly embedded itself in the collective consciousness of McLaren Vale, crafting wines that are both intense and gracefully balanced, showcasing the region's signature varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache. However, innovation has always been at the forefront of their winemaking philosophy. Pioneering Sangiovese in the 1980s was just the beginning. Today, Coriole explores an array of wines from heat-resilient Mediterranean grapes such as Fiano, Montepulciano, Nero d'Avola, and Piquepoul. Their focus on mid-weight styles ensures wines that are highly drinkable and versatile, perfect for both casual sipping and pairing with food.

Established in 1967 by Hugh and Molly Lloyd, Coriole introduced its inaugural wine in 1969. Today, the estate remains under the ownership of the Lloyd family, with second and third-generation family members now at the helm. Situated amidst the rolling hills of McLaren Vale, Coriole enjoys a prime location, nestled within the densely planted vineyards and just a stone's throw away from the sea, all within an hour's drive from Adelaide.

The historic farmhouses, dating back to 1860, serve as the heart of the winery, now transformed into the focal point of the garden and cellar door. The original vineyards, planted in 1919, continue to contribute to Coriole's legacy of winemaking excellence.
