Notes from the producer

The story of Veuve Clicquot is one of audacity, creativity, and boldness. In 1810, Madame Clicquot invented the first vintage champagne, and by 2015, Veuve Clicquot declared the 67th vintage of the Maison. Since then, the house has mastered the art of ageing.

Predominantly featuring Pinot Noir from Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, Veuve Clicquot's vintage wines are known for their structure. Chardonnay adds elegance and finesse, while a small percentage of Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend.

What makes Veuve Clicquot’s Vintage collection unique is its use of wines vinified and aged in large oak casks, adding strength and aromatic intensity. These cask-aged wines offer spicy notes and subtle aromas of roast coffee and toast. The wine is distinguished by its elegance, tension, and energy, with initial impressions of minerality and tension, followed by aromas of toast, roasted coffee beans, and praline.

On the nose, you’ll find citrusy notes of orange, grapefruit, and lemon zest. The palate reveals flavors of biscuit, dried apricot marmalade, dates, toasted almonds, and honey-glazed hazelnuts. This excellent structure makes it a fine, upstanding vintage.
